Question:

My kilowatt hours usage has just about doubled in the past year. With only two of us in the house that doesn't seem possible. We don"t use any more. We have switched many of the light bulbs to the energy-saver type. Is there some way I can check this or would I be better off to call an electrician or some other such person to check this out.

Answer:

Sooner or lagter you'll have to call in an electrician so you might as well do it now.

Remember, even if you don’t do your own work around the house have to hire someone, you put yourself at a great advantage when you can intelligently discuss a project with the various trades people.
