I am trying to replace a ceiling light fixture. This fixture is controlled by two separate wall switches. I have two "white" wires and a black wire coming from the ceiling. The fixture has two bulbs each with a black and white wire coming from it. I have tried various combinations and the light either does not work or I've blown the circuit breaker. One of the ceiling wires appears to come directly from the ceiling through the box and the other is a pigtail from a bundled set of wires with a connector on it within the box. Any idea how to connect these to the fixture.
Answer:
You've had too many cooks in the kitchen and the extra wires are leading to somewhere that only one of them is familiar with. Get an electrician in there and his meter will tell you exactly where to connect things. That one wire that is coming from where you don't see it should be removed and properly installed. That's the kind of thing house fires are made.
