Question:

I have a halogen light set on the same circuit as a ground fault plug in my bath room. Almost every time I flick on the halogen lights, the GFI socket trips. The Halogen lights stay on after it trips. while the lights are still on I can reset the GFI socket and run a hair dryer. I think the transformer fools the GFI into thinking it is shorted until the magnetic field is established.

Answer:

You might want to check the circuitry and your ownership manual for the lights on this one.
