In the last few months whenever there is a thunderstorm, my roof in a certain section seems to vibrate as though an aluminum ladder was laying on it, it seems to be a metallic vibration and scares me to death. It only started this summer, my house is 24 years old and I have a steel TV tower but the vibrations are not near it. But rather in the centre of the house, near where there is a valley in the roof. I don't know where to begin with this awful vibration. To clarify, the noise occurs only when there is thunder.
Answer:
I think the secret is the valley because it is lined with metal and the vibrations from the thunder are rumbling through it. Everything rattles when we have thunder but metal roofs and metal lined valleys respond with much more sound than wood and shingles.
