Question:

What is the best way to remove the glue left on a concrete floor once a carpet has been removed? We want to paint the floor after removing the glue. Any suggestions regarding running a dryer vent? The only outside wall is 6' away (straight in front of)the dryer - and the hot water heater is directly in the way (leaving only 1" clearance)so we have to go up and over the hot water heater. My husband wants to vent it up and over the hot water heater - I can see lint building up in the vent pipe before it goes around the side of the dryer, up the wall and across. Is the new metal duct dryer vent any good?

Answer:

If a heat gun doesn't do it, you might have to resort to a chisel. As far as the dryer vent goes, the rigid duct is the only way to go anyway. Try to make sure you don't travel any father than 22' with it and not more than two elbows. The corrugated plastic stuff will reduce the efficiency of the machine to less than half. You'll know you have a problem if you take longer than a half hour to dry a full load of clothes.
