Question:

I have a chalet in the country which has white pine wainscotting on the walls on the main floor. During the ice storm we noticed that a few of the boards (on the outside wall) had split. Since then, I have noticed that the split on each board has opened up quite a bit to almost 1.2 in. Is there some way I can have them fixed without replacing the boards as they are nailed to the wall and would have to remove quite a few of them? Thanking you in advance.

Answer:

Unfortunately, these will not be kind to you. You can remove a series of them, edge glue (and clamp) the cracked ones and then re-assemble the works.
