I am removing some old rugs from the floor and before I put down the new flooring which is going to be laminant flooring I want to fix a number of squeaks.I wanted to get your opinion on the best way to do this. I planned on using screws but I was not too sure as to what kind, how long, how far apart or if there is something else I could do. I will have full access to the subfloor, above and below but I assume that above is best?
Answer:
You should be using plywood screws 1-1/2" long and in the field of the plywood they go in every 6 to 8 inches while along the butted edges, every three inches.
