I have just built a ceder wood deck and some of the wood boards cracked after screwed. Some cracks are long from one end to the other end. Is it normal? Should I replace them?
Answer:
This is by no means normal and if you leave them, the grain will start to raise and anyone in bare feet is in danger. About the only way around this sort of thing sometimes is to drill pilot holes for the screws. What a bother because there are many screws!
