We are in the process of trying to put together a mail box post.Could you please tell me how to attach gingerbread trim to a 4"x4" post.Because of the cut out design I don`t know how to nail it on. Is there another way? The gingerbread trim is store bought and the label says it is a porch bracket.
Answer:
No matter how thin or how thick these things are, I've always found them best attached with screws. You drill pilot holes for the screws and then just drive them in. You can countersink themif the material is thick enough to accommodate a plug. Other than that, you might want to use either aluminum or brass screws so you don't end up with stains.
