I had a window about 5 months ago. The window at various times of the day and evening makes cracking noises. I called them and a man was sent out. He screwed nails into the frame hoping this would solve the problem but to no avail. Can you give me any suggestions or reason why this is occurring?
Answer:
The crackling appears to be the result of re-action to temperature change. This being the case, I'd want someone to make sure the fasteners used to install it were the right ones. All manufacturers have specific means and methods of installation for the products they market and if tradesmen don't follow them, you can sometimes end up with problems that show up right away and other times they take years. My concern here is that if fasteners have created pressure where they should not have, the thermal seals in windows may pop and then they fog up between the sheets of glass or in some cases, they've even been known to crack.
