The former owners of our house glued carpet to the concrete floor in our basement. We have removed the carpet and have scraped off with a large putty knife as much of the green residue from the carpet backing as we can. We would like to paint the floor with a faux finish but know that we need to get the residue completely off first. What can we do to get this stuff off? Will a floor polisher or sander work?
Answer:
If its just rubber backing from the carpet, you can scrub it off with wallpaper removing compound and a stiff brush. If the adhesive is harder than that, you may have to go to grinding it off with a sander. Try taking a samply of it to your favorite flooring outlet and they might be able to be more specific for youl.
