Question:

I need to replace the ceramic on the bathtub walls in my two bathrooms. I don't want to fix the ceramic and instead I would like to install bathtub walls. Can I install the tub wall directly over the ceramic, and if so, do I need to do or use anything specific for best adhesion?

Answer:

Your bathrub wall manufacturer will be best to tell you about that because not all of them will necessarily bea compatible with adhesives to masonry. What I have done in the past, was to forego the flimsy walls all together and, using ordinary flooring adhesive, I've applied cushion flooring to the walls. This has worked very well for me in the past and I've taken the cushion flooring right to the ceiling for better service and to save having to paint another part of the bathroom.
