I rather like rocking chairs, but a rocking toilet is another matter. I haven't removed it yet, but it seems to me the fitting in the floor is too high. I tried tightening the lag screws. This pulled the back of the toilet down and lifted the front. It was stable for a while (6 months?) but is now back to rocking. There are no leaks (yet!). The floor is vinyl. What do you think?
Answer:
You're right, the flange is too high and there is no logical way to lower it so you'll have to build up the footprint of the bowl to accommodate it. This can be done with pieces of ceramic floor tile or some such and then do your rocking in the living room again. I'd get to this pretty soon because if it starts to leak, you may be into picking apart the sub-flooring underneath it. Sheet vinyl flooring is not normally recyclable either!
