Question:

I have my sewing room & a computer room in my basement. (All the floor was painted a few years ago with grey concrete paint.) The basement is only partly finished, has drywall except in my laundry room & the outer cement block walls. Only 2 roughed-in bedrooms are complete with ceilings & drywall all around. It's those 2 rooms that I use for sewing & computering. Now, since I use swivel chairs on plastic casters, all the paint is blistered & flaking where I roll my chairs. My husband is annoyed with this & says he'd like to throw down some type of carpeting in the damaged areas. Is there too much dampness that causes the paint to blister & flake? Or is it just my rolling around?

Answer:

You're not going to like this. Your chair is doing the damage and there are carpets you can put down (either wall to wall or scatter mat style)onto which you can lay a sheet of office chair plastic. This is what I use and they're available at all stationary stores. The plastic pad is about 4"X4" so you have quite a bit of liberty with it. The way my office is set up, my desk is a bit more than 4" away, and immediately in front of the computer so its a simple matter of spinning around from one to the other.
