Question:

I rent a unit with hardwood floors. They are worn out in frequently traveled areas, and the landlord is not likely to refinish the floors. Can I spray some varathane onto these areas to protect them a bit? Alice PS I listen (or tape) your show every Saturday & love it.

Answer:

I'm afraid your spray won't adhere and you'll be tracking it all over. A surface, particularly one that will be walked on, will have to be prepared by sanding, sealing and then finishing. I don't know that the spray finishes have the durability to withstand that traffic.
