I need advice regarding the installation of ceramic floor tile. Actually, more about the surfaces it should or shouldn't be installed on. Have you ever worked with ceramic floor tile, and if so, what's your recommendation for the best way to prep the floor? It's presently lino over K3 board.
Answer:
I guess the first thing that strikes me in answering your question is that the key word in cushion floor is "Cushion" and that equates to bounce no matter how you slice it and the same applies to linoleum. The only successful installations I've run across in roughly forty years have had ceramic tile either on a concrete base or over at least an inch and a half of wood base. The problem is that every other sub-structure tends to deflect when you walk on it and the tiles do not bend and neither does the grout between them.
