Question:

The previous owners of our house glued cushion floor to each wooden stair going to the basement. It is all curling up, it looks gross and it is dangerous going up and down the stairs! I would like to remove it and probably just paint the stairs. Do you have any advice on how to get this stuff off? I tried one and it is really stuck on good.

Answer:

You're into using a heat gun and then you have a major decision to make regarding the paint because the adhesive from the old flooring won't take kindly to any of it. Even once you've taken off as much as you can, I think about the only thing I'd try is 100% latex.
