Question:

I want to resurface my upper houseboat deck with one of the glue down vinyl membranes. It requires me to put new plywood down first. My deck is currently plywood covered in fiberglass. Can I just lay new plywood on the fiberglass then cover with the vinyl. I'm concerned about the new plywood rotting if sandwiched in between two waterproof layers.

Answer:

Count on it, it will rot in rather short order. You'll be better off taking the old stuff off.
