Question:

I'm having the floors in my house redone, there is presently carpet and I'm having vinyl flooring put in. They say they have to put new plywood all the way through but the existing floor squeaks in some places I know it needs more screws but should I put them in the old plywood first before the new one goes down?

Answer:

Absolutely! If you don't do that, the two layers might not even harmonize when they squeak and you'll be the one living with kitchen flooring singing to you off-key first thing in the morning!
