Question:

I have a bright living room 22x23 in which I just installed new oak flooring. My contractor installed it and recommended I get some prices from local finishers. My finisher did the job and in most areas it was perfect, but around most of the outside, the floor was not sanded level as the center area, he returned twice to repair them, but some are still there. The floor was to have a satin finish but some of the places now are very bright (maybe different material). I have not yet paid him. What should I do now?

Answer:

Its your money and in your shoes, I'd just make very sure that the finisher knew that you're not about to part with it until you can do it with a smile.
