Question:

What is the best way to install a berber carpet over ceramic tiles in a basement? Some have suggested glue, others the tacks nailed into the tiles around the edge of the room. I don't care if we damage the caramics. What would you suggest?

Answer:

To keep the tile pattern from eventually bleading through, my suggestion would be to remove the ceramic with a power tile chipper but if that's too much trouble, I lay in a heavy underpad and then use the tack strips. This, only if you are sure there is no moisture problem that you may have to deal with.

Telephone and E mail information is always free so please don’t hesitate to take advantage of it.

In the interests of retaining credibility and in fairness to all, I cannot recommend prices, people nor companies for various projects.

Remember, even if you don’t do your own work around the house have to hire someone, you put yourself at a great advantage when you can intelligently discuss a project with the various trades people.
