Question:

We are building our first new home, and although we would love to have hardwood flooring, we cannot afford it. We have opted for laminate flooring. We have a concrete slab foundation, and I live in Alabama...a rather humid state. Do you forsee any problems for us? What steps can we take to ensure that our flooring will not become damaged due to moisture?

Answer:

You should have less problems (if any) with the laminate product because it does not re-act to atmospheric humidity content while wood does. These products are quite new to the North American market so follow the instructions that come with your flooring very carefully.
