Question:

had our bathroom done over, we had a stand up shower, and tub put in, and they put ceramic tiles on the floor, whats happening now is that in places like around the shower and tub, you can see the floor move when you walk on it, also the grout is cracking, we told the company about this, and they said is because it was an older house, and that when they put the new plywood down there was a joist that had been cut, should they had not put another joist in when they had the old floor apart, or do we live it?

Answer:

I hope oyu have not yet paid them. Ceramic tile needs an inch and a half of wood under it and if there's a joist or part of it missing, that has first to be repaired/replaced. The grout will soon completely deteriorate and the tiles will start lifing if they have not already.
