Question:

Installed a vinyl foor in our kitchen in dec 1999. At the time the floor looked good and I, not being an expert at installing flooring did not see any of the problem that we are having now. This past winter we noticed the floor seems starting to lift and marks on the floor from where the glue had been spread. We called the company from who we bought it off of and asked if they would fix the seems even at our cost. We got the run around with them for four months and they never sent out any one. Finally we went to another local store and asked them to come out and do it and they came out. He took one look at the floor and said that he would advise us to get the origanal company out because the installation of the floor was bad. He showed me how they used a carpet glue spreader to spread the glue causing all the lines in the floor. They also did not use any seem seal or any thing at the seems. We went back at the company again and they finally sent out a warranty guy for the flooring and he said that it is not the flooring that is the problem. Just a poor job of installing it. He told the company this but they still will not give us the time of day when we talk to them no matter how offten we call. Now I don't know what to do. They refuse to come look at it, of course the warranty is up. I can't afford to replace it and I have no room to lay down another sub-floor on top of the old floor. Can you help me with this?

Answer:

If you had recorded your complaint on paper prior to the warranty running out, you could get your lawyer involved but if you didn't there's little point in throwing good money after bad. I'm afraid, from where I sit, you own this one.
