Question:

I have a 15 year old bungalow and would like to replace the carpet on the stairs and the cushion floor on the entrance way. I am thinking about hardwood but am concerned about it being slippery and about how it wears on stairs. I have also been looking at the laminate that comes in narrow strips that looks like hardwood. Your opinion would be appreciated

Answer:

There's nothing wrong with hardwood on stairs and at the entrance you might even consider slate. As far as your other choices go, you may want to do more research and see a few installations that are at least a couple of years old in similar situations as you want them.
