Question:

We are currently looking for central a/c unit for our approx. 1500sqft tomehome, and we have had several contractors suggesting either puron or the standard R22 coolant systems. We are aware of the 2010 and 2020 law dates concerning R22, but we are looking for an expert opinion on which coolant we should go with, keeping in mind the higher costs for puron units.

Answer:

Puron as a rule is more efficient than R-22. And is an investment in the future, as it is environmantally friendly and the "life"" of the units are approx. 15-20 years, in which time R-22 will be obsolete
