Question:
I have a flat roof on my semi detached and was wondering what I can do to make sure it doesn't leak or heavy snow doesn't weigh too much or any other concerns I should have or what I can do to change it.. also the lack of insulation from a flat roof??
Answer:
I wouldn't worry about heavy snow loads on a flat roof since the roof should be engineered to withstand snow loads. It's very rare that a significant amount of snow will accumulate as generally snow is blown off by wind. A perfect remedy would be to have it framed with pre-engendered roof trusses with a slop. This would address your insulation concerns because more insulation can be added at this time.
