Question:
My roof shingles are exhibiting signs of algae growth. I presume that's what it is, some of the shingles are discoloured and when I contacted IKO customer service, that is what they replied it probably was. What is the recommended treatment to get rid of the discolouration? It's quite unsightly as it at the front of my house and the roof goes straight down so it's very visible. Thanks.
Answer:
Hello,
Zinc strips are available at roofing supply outlets. These strips are installed under the uppermost row of shingles leaving 1" exposed to allow water to run over the zinc creating a mild solution to prevent algae growth.
Good Luck,
