Question:
Do you know anything about this new roofing system that is being advertised in local papers ie:- discounted price if your home may be used as a model. Apparently it is better than a steel roof, has a 50 year warranty, may be painted and the paint will stay on, but can be rubbed off manually !! Will not fade, rust, etc.
Your comments would be appreciated,
Thanks in advance
Answer:
Hello,
Aluminum is very soft and prone to damage from ice. In my opinion, steel as a base material is far superior in our climate. These "discounted" roofs are very expensive and most are installing the aluminum shingles over the existing asphalt shingles which continue to deteriorate.
Proceed with extreme caution!!!
