Question:
Hi Anthony,
I am putting up my cathedral roof trusses (12 / 12 pitch)and am near ready to order my tin for my cottage (retirement house) - my delima is 2 part:
1 - do I use 2x4s for strapping to attach the tin to, or 1/2 inch plywwod or aspenite? I've heard pros & cons for both...
2 - tin roofs accumulate condensation below but how much? I have over 28 inches of space in my rafters of which I will use 12 inches for insulation. Should I have some type of weather barrier between the insulation and the tin? I am worried that the condensation will ruin the insulation and run into the house...
Thank you for your help and comments

Answer:
Insulation is very important for keeping the cold out. Your attic in the winter should be cool so that condensation doesn't occur. Vapor barrier is a good method of separating the insulation and the interior of your house. Just make sure you have proper ventilation and air flow in the attic. And as for strapping the roof in 3' strapping is also fine.
