Question:
We are having the roof replaced on our 15 year old house. One contractor suggested replacing the 5 attic vents on the back part of our house with a ridge vent. Another contractor had suggested putting in additional roof vents. Since we are starting out fresh, which alternative do you feel we should go with? If the alternative is ridge vents, approx. how much more do you pay for ridge vents over the ususal roof vents? Whatever suggestions you have is greatly appreciated.
Answer:
If you have cathedral ceilings then I would recommend installing new ridge vents. The cost for pre-finished ridge vents are $35 plus installation so you’re looking at around $50/vent. I recommend installing a three fin VENMAR vent. A VENMAR costs a little more but its money well spent. If you want a free estimate feel free to call.
