Question:
Rob:
I just puchased a KIA Sephia for my wife. The car is a 2001 with 59,000 km.
The dealer is trying to convince me to purchase a rustproofing package for $625.00. The car has nothing more than normal factory protection.
This doesn't seem like a good deal to me.
What do you think.
Best regards,
Wayne O'Neil
Answer:
Most vehicles are produced for worldwide sales these days, as such the needs for rustproofing differ from country to country and even areas within a country. For instance, vehicles sold to owners living near salt water or in areas where salt trucks are out keeping the roads safe in the winter, need much more protection than other vehicles sold to owners living in other areas.
Additional rustproofing is never a bad thing. It helps your vehicle look better longer, and it improves the resale value. I can't comment on the price other than to say you get what you pay for. Also, there are generally advantages in terms of warranty etc. when you buy from the selling dealer as opposed to aftermarket companies.
