Question:

Since the price of a standard transmission is included in the price of the car when it comes into from the factory. Why is there not a credit for that transmission on the price before the cost of a Automatic Transmission added to the total price of the vehicle.

Thank you

Answer:

I believe it is. Most new automatic transmissions cost approximately $3,000 - $4,000. When you select the auto transmission option you pay only approximately $1000 - $2000 extra. This is actually the difference between the manual transmission and the automatic transmission. (To make it clearer the manufacturer could put a $2000 credit and a $4000 charge - but it still nets out to an additional $2,000.)
