Question:

Hi,

I am considering putting a one story addition (300-500 sqft) with full basement (300-500 sqft as well) on my home vs buying a larger home. How can I determine if it is worth doing, are there price calculators or CMHC charts that can give me this cost/sqft data?

My house is approx. 1300 sqft and is 3 bedroom single with large yard in Orleans Ontario.

Thanks,

Scott

Answer:

Scott,

Thank you for your enquiry. An addition to your home will add value to it but you have to be careful not to increase the value too far over the rest of the homes in your area. If you would like we can provide you with the names of a contractor that can do the work and give you an estimate. There is no price calculator to determine this.

It would be best for us to have further information about your home ie: location in Orleans. Also it would be a good idea to have one of us over to look at your property. This way we could determine a value of your home at its current state. We would be happy to provide you with a no obligation free market evaluation.

We are located in Orleans so feel free to call us at 830-9999 anytime.

Thanks

Craig
