Answer:
We do not recommend painting the grout. A tradional method of restoring the grout on the floor is to soak it with a mixture of chlorine bleach (Javex).
Add the bleach to a bucket of hot water on the ratio of 3 parts water to 1 part bleach. Using a wet string mop, go over the floor, leaving the solution on the tiles.
Be very careful to avoid carpets, baseboards and your own clothing as the bleach can damage these. Be sure to wear rubber gloves and make sure the room is ventilated.
Let the bleach solution stand for 20 minutes. Wash off with clean warm water. You may have to repeat this procedure a couple of times, but it should do the trick.
A newer approach is to use a vapour cleaner on the grout. The dirt will strip out very easily with usually only one pass, leaving clean grout. No harsh chemicals are used in the process.
