Question:

Good morning,

We have a very large window in our living room which heats the room nicely in the winter, however, provides an incredible amount of heat in the summer. What do you recommend that is affordable, to filter some of the sun's rays, but still provides the day light. We currently close the vertical blinds which works, but then we lose the daylight altogether.

Thank you

Suzanne

Answer:

Hi,

The product that you are looking for is SHEERWEAVE.
This product comes in different percentages of openess.14%, 10%, 5%, 3%, 1%.

For example:
14% will allow the most light to come through but will not block much heat and 1% this product is almost opaque but will be the best for thermal efficiency.

In my professional opinion you would be best served to choose the 5% or 3% fabrics which allow less light but provides more thermal efficiency.

Keep in mind that the amount that you are able to see out during the day ,works in complete opposite at night. With the lights on inside and dark outside you will be able to see in the house. Therefore if privacy is a concern than you may want to go with a more dense fabric at the 3% or 1% openess.
