Question:
hello, I recently replaced my old tub fixtures with new ones..the moen wand type. I realize that water restriction codes reduce the water output, but when the wand points to 12 oclock and the pressure is supposed to be at its highest, the water is not hot enough. As I turn the wand to the hotter side I lose pressure. I have installed a soaker tub which takes 15-20 minutes to fill because I have to put the water at the hottest(but the lowest pressure) to ensure a warm bath. Can this be adjusted or would I be better to replace the wand with a push-pull type of fixture. I regret not having stayed with a system where I have control over the hot and cold input.
Answer:
I don't think the difference in these two shower valves is the cause of your problem here. I suspect there is something clogging the hot side of your cartridge and it should be replaced. Major plumbing supply stores will carry a supply of these cartriges and instructions on how to replace it. They are relatively easy to replace and it should solve your problem.
