Question:
A friend of mine has black spots on the bathroom wall and ceilling. There is no ceiling fan in the bathroom.would you recommend puting a combined fan and fixture for ventilation and how do I get rid of the spots. A solution of water and bleach 50/50? once dry can I paint over it what kind of paint should be used. Would the exhaust be connected to the roof overhang? It is a bungalow. Did I miss anything?
Answer:
Most of what you have said is the answer to the problem. I personally do not like combo ceiling light/fans. I find them both a compromise; poor light and poor fan. Put a separate fan in and you will get better performance and less noise. The exhaust should be vented so the moist air is directed to the outside and not allowed to vent into the attic space. If the room is properly vented then regular ceiling paint for a bathroom will be fine.
