I am renovating a bathroom ,that has lino on the floor. Can I apply tile directly over the lino?
Answer:
No! The linoleum will not have the under support that ceramic tile needs to keep from cracking or having grout pop out. You need at least 1 1/8" of solid flooring under the ceramic and that flooring must be screwed at least every 4 inches to ensure the strength required. Secondly, the adhesive (thin set) will not likely adhere properly to the linoleum and you will have tiles popping off in no time.
