Question:

Hi, I'm interested in installing an electric floor heating system under a new ceramic floor. Do you have any recommendations for product to use? Any suggestions or advice from your experience? thanks.

Answer:

There are several types of radiant electric floor systems on the market today. We have been using the wire cable style from a couple manufacturers with good results. We use the wire cable style over the mat version as we can portentially have layout changes and the wire allows us to make those changes easily. The mat style has to be custom made to your bathroom according to your measurements. The wire style also offers us the option of what level of room heating to incorporate by changing the distance the wires are set apart when laying the floor. One word of caution, the wires are extremely sensitive to damage and you must be very careful not to nick or damage them either during installation or once they are installed. Putting a protective coat of floor leveller over the wires before tiling will protect the wires from potential nicks from the trowels used in tiling. Call the store and we will give you the name of the product and we can even sell it to you. Bob Bathrooms First www.bathroomsfirst.ca
