Question:

I have purchased a General table saw, wired for 110v, but easily (they say) re-wired for 220v. It is a 2hp motor (15amps @110, 7.5amps @220) - is it better to use such a saw at 220?

Answer:

Hi Jakeybear

Performance wise there is no difference. It is a matter of choice in what you have available for power. Most people that run the motors on 220v do so because they run an extension cord or hard wire to the garage and a smaller gauge cord can be used for longer distances. If your motor runs great and you are not having any problems on 110v leave it the way it is.
