Question:
If I have never stained anything before & I would like to stain my dinning room set (incl. chairs)how do I start & what do I need to know. Also, I would like to paint my second floor landing but I am not sure what colour to choose. My downstairs colour is a pale rose colour which runs half way up my stairs with a chair rail dividing the pale pink from what I would like to paint now. The two small bedrooms are painted a steel blue colour & the main bathroom & master bedroom are painted a pale butter yellow. I need to know what colour to paint the walls on the landing & space above the chair rail at staircase

Answer:
Jennifer,
I would suggest a trip to your local paint store would be a good place to start with the projects you are considering. Restaining a dining set is a big undertaking and requires alot of sanding before any staining can be started. The paint store will be able to provide you with guidance on the type of sandpaper, or stripping product that will work best. As to the colours to select, again that is difficult to do with out seeing you space and the tone of colour that each area has. You may want to consider using a combination of the blue and yellows, use the blue below that rail and the yellow above.
Hope this helps.
