Question:
We have an hitachi ultravision big screen tv, a satellite system, cd player, dvd player and vcr player of which we run through the receiver. When we want to watch the satelitte we put the receiver on SAT, when using vcr, put receiver on LD and when using dvd player we put the receiver on VCR D.
The rogers cablevision line is plugged into the VCR.
When we watch only the TV with rogers cable there is a line going up on the big screen.
When watching the TV,and putting the receiver on LD (using the VCR)there is NO line going up on TV.
When watching the satelitte using the receiver and putting it oin SAT, there is a line going up on the big screen.
I tried one day to unplug the cablevision wire which is hooked into the VCR machine, by unplugging it, the line went away when watching the satelitte? As soon as I plugged it back in to the VCR machine the line appeared on the TV agin as I was watching the satelitte.
When I watch the satelitte I spend my time looking at the line going up on the screen all the time. I don't understand because we are using the satelitte box and the receiver to watch the satelitte on TV. WhY when I unplug the rogers cablevision wire from the VCR , the line goes away on the big screen?
One time I argued with the Rogers guy who came to my home and he told me that it was the ground wire (electrical) of our home causing this?
NEED HELP
One other thing whenever we wuse the receiver to watch the satelitte or dvd player if we turn up the volume we always hear a ringing noise. If we wiggle some of the wires at the back of the receiver it goes away?
Please reply
Answer:
We have a Panamax surge protector / line conditioner that should fix your problem, it sells for $129.95.
As for the ringing, this is probably cable related, we charge $65.00 per hour, we can fix it if you wish.
The Surge protector is fully refundable if it deos not fix the problem.
