Question:

hi there, 1st! i am greatful for your time. i am wondering if it is a drapery fashion foe to have them made 3/4 in length. i have katz and thought that if i had them made 3/4 long, then they would not drag on the floor. the windows that will get drape treatments are really long and wide! i don't know what to use other than the drapes, will need for dining and living room spaces, any sugestions. thanks. Shirleen ps. i can send pick, if you want.

Answer:

Shirleen, Draperies should clear your floor by 1/2 to 3/4 inches. Of course it can be a matter of personal taste with some folks opting to stop their curtains several inches off the floor, while others like to "puddle" their draperies right on the floor. We do not get too close to the floor with standard draperies because many fabrics have a tendancy to "breath", with the fabric shortening and lengthing seasonally due to the changes in indoor humidity. I hope that helps, thanks for your questions.
