Question:

We have a new propane fireplace, with the pilot light on we hit the switch to turn it on. It takes several seconds to start, and when it does it seems as though it is going to blow the glass out.

Any suggestions.

What you are describing sounds like delayed ignition. The unit should not be used until it is serviced by a qualified technician.
