Question:
i am building a deck in the backyard this summer, and tossing around the possibility of also installing a hot tub. is there anything to consider to make the structure & hot tub available for use in the winter too? thanks
Answer:
Great question, it is a common misconception that tubbing is not a winter activity. In actuality if you choose a hot tub built for our climate, winter is the best time of the year.
Beachcomber has the option of the patented Protec system. This option is engineered with the pumps and mechanics under a step, allowing for all four walls to be insulated, less sound and vibration inside the tub, large footwell, and easy access to the equipment. Beachcomber has been building tubs for 26 years and is famous for their energy efficiency.
With regard to your deck, if it's a wood deck, most people are setting the tubs on top so the hot tub location is not permanent. In this case the filled weight (2000lbs- 4123lbs) needs to be taken into consideration. Beachcomber hot tubs are built with a thick acrylic shell and I beam support allowing for installation even on solid level ground.
We also recommend placing your tub within 15 ft of the door so you don't have too much shoveling in the winter.
We can also help you with you decking needs. Thanks for your interest.
