First time with a gas fireplace in my new home.We were usuing it in the evenings for a few hours until I got my first gas bill for December.There is no fan installed just decorative. I have a feeling I am paying for the builders gas consumtion as well as my own for my first bill but since then I have even turned off the piliot light and am not usuing it.Are gas fireplaces that expencives to run? Murray I'd say they are not expensive to run. In fact I'd say there practical in the sense of heating a room you'd frequently occupy.Why turn the furnace up to heat the whole house I'd definetly would try to maximize your heat by installing a fan. Clint
