Question:
My 1700sq ft bungalow has hydronic radiant heating in the floor of my large finished basement. I believe it is quite efficient way to heat. If I install a wood stove in the basement, I suppose I would lose the benefit of the radiant floor heating, plus I wonder if the furnace would still kick in to heat the upper floors. Should I be better off in installing the wood stove on the first floor? Would this be a more efficient setup? The basement is occupied probably as often as the main floor.
Thanks,
Yves Cayer

I'd agree that installing the woodstove in the basement would overide your radiant floor and not be efficient.
I'd recommend installing on the the woodstove on the first floor
