Question:

I need to isolate a concrete floor that will be pour in few weeks. Some expert told me to isolate under the concrete floor with high density foam, some other say it better to isolate with same foam over the concrete floor. What do you recommend?

Answer:

Hi, If it is for a basement slab, than you can go with regular TypeII Expanded Polystyrene with a six mil Poly on top of the foam prior to pour the concrete. If it is for a garage slab or for under a floating slab than I recommend that you go for a high-density foam. There is a big cost difference between the high-density foam and the regular TypeII foam. By putting the foam under the concrete it eliminates the condensation on the floor, which eliminate the promotion of moulds & mildew. Hope this help. Regards, Marc Philippe EMM Group 2743 Dunning Rd.
