Question:

We are planning to build within the next year and have decided that ICF is the way! We are planning to build a one story home on a concrete slab. What can you tell me about using an engineered frost-wall. I believe one method is to use the ICF in a conventional manner and to go up straight from the footings, but I would like to know what you think or know about another method - when the frost wall goes down 2 feet and then out 2 feet? Thanks for your time and knowledge!

Answer:

Unfortunately I cannot comment on your footing depth requirement as this is determined by the building codes in your area. To get an idea on how we achieve most of the requirements, please go to the following link (http://www.integraspec.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21) & download there engineering manual where you will be able to find two "shallow footing details" The link is from the manufacturer that we are dealing with. Hope this helps Marc Philippe EMM Group
